3 John
Chapter 1
1 The elder unto the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 My beloved, I pray in regards to all things that you prosper and are well, unto the point that even your soul finds His favor.
3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brethren visited and did testify unto your Truth, in regards to how you are living in the Truth.
4 I have no greater joy than this, that I might hear that my children are living within the truth.
5 My beloved, whatever you do, do it faithfully on behalf of the brethren, as well as, the strangers;
6 those who testified about your love in the presence of the assembly. Whom you would do well to send them on their way in a manner that honors God.
7 Truly for they went forth for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing of the gentiles.
8 Truly we should receive people such as these, so that they might become fellow co-laborers within the truth.
9 I wrote something unto the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to be the first of them, would not receive us.
10 Because of this when I come, I will call attention unto the works he is doing, spreading evil lies about us; and not satisfied by these things, he even refuses to receive those of the brotherhood, and those intending to do so he forbids, and casts them out of the congregation.
11 My beloved do not imitate that which is evil, but rather He who is good. Those who do good are of God; those who do evil have never seen God.
12 Demetrius has received a favorable testimony from everyone, as well as, from the truth itself; and we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true.
13 I have many things to explain unto you, but I’m unwilling to write them unto you by ink and pen;
14 wherefore I hope to see you shortly, when we speak face to face.
15 Peace be unto you, those who are your friends salute you. Salute those who are friends in His name. Amen.
