Jude
Jude
Chapter 1
Jude, free-slavea of Jesus Christ, and the brother of James, unto those who are called beloved by God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ,.
Mercy and peace and love be multiplied unto you.
Dearly beloved in all haste do I write unto you concerning our mutual salvation, I felt the need to write you, to encourage you to contend once again for the faith entrusted unto the saints.1
For certain men have snuck in unnoticed, those who have of late unreservedly shown themselves unto this condemnation, ungodly men who twist the nature of the grace of our God into licentiousnessb and the law of our God and refuse our Lord Jesus Christ.1
And I wish to remind all of you once more that God’s saviorc delivered the people out of the land of Egypt, only to afterward destroy those who those who did not have faith.1
And the angels, who did not keep their original state, but rather forsook their own dwelling place, He has held captive in eternal chains under darkness for the day of the great judgment.1
Just like Sodom and Gomorrah and within the cities around them, who likewise in the same manner gave themselves over to sexual immorality, following after the altered flesh, setting themselves forth as examples, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
And likewise they were having visions of defiling the flesh, and the Lords ways and rejecting His glory, thereby blaspheming.
Now the archangel Michael, when contending with the devil and disputing over the body of Moses, he did not venture to bring a railing accusation against him, but rather he said, "The Lord rebuke you"d
And these people speak evil of that which they truly do not understand; such as these only understand the baser instincts, just as irrational beasts being fully acquainted with the one who destroys.
Great sorrows unto them; for they walk in the way of Cain, and for the profits of trading they rushed forward into the deception of Balaam, only to be destroyed in the rebellion of Korah.e
These are the hidden reefs in the midst of your love feasts, lacking reverence, shepherds only of themselves; waterless clouds leading away east;f fruitless trees in last days of autumn twice dead, torn out by the roots;
billows of the waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; lost stars, for whom the black of the eternal darkness has been reserved forever.
And these people Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with tens of thousands of His holy angels to execute judgment upon all, and destroy all the ungodly"1 g
And convict every soul in regards to all of the cruel things which the ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
Such as these are the murmurers, the fault seekers, following after their own lusts; and their mouths speak arrogantly to flatter the people for the sake of profit.
But you, my beloved, remember the words which were previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Because they state unto you, “In the last days deceivers will come, who go on living according to their own lusts”1 h
* These people are those who cause the divisions of the soul, not possessing the Spirit.1
But you, My beloved, continue building yourselves within the holy faith, offering prayers in the Holy Spirit,1
Keep yourselves within the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto life eternal.
And show mercy upon some, making just decisions;
save the others, snatching them away from the fire; and show compassion with reverence; refusing even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Now to the One who is powerful enough to have established and marked you pure, without blemish or spot, to have you stand in the presence of His glory in great joy.1
Unto our God alone, unto Him be the glory, majesty, honor and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, both now and forevermore. Amen.
